long time no type

Do you all feel like I've been giving you the silent treatment? My sincerest apologies, I have been so busy with work! It's all good things, but it's kept my focus off the blog, so I'm happy to be back!

Let me just say, I have been taking full advantage of my summer. Laying by the pool, enjoying the sunshine, and sweating bullets all sound like summer to me. What is with this heat wave in the East?! Damn, I got up this morning and it was 84 degrees in my house. 84 degrees. Not cool. And there's no AC in my apartment. So, the bathroom is sweltering while I'm getting ready. I don't think I've fixed my hair for two months. What's the point? The dryer and straightener just make the room hotter and then I'm dripping sweat. Not sexy.

Let's talk about food.

I've been trying new protein powders to find something I like and I heard that if you email Sun Warrior, they will send you a free sample!

So, this is what I got: Warrior Blend Raw Protein in Vanilla, Natural, and Chocolate flavors along with their Raw Supergreens powder.

I've tried all of the protein flavors and I think vanilla and natural were my favorites.

I know, it shocked me too - the chocolate tasted a little chalky.

I haven't tried the supergreens, but I'll let you know when I do.

I've talked to you before about my love for Body & Soul bakery.

It's kind of become a "thing" I do now.

Run by the green market and scoop one o' these tasty nuggets.

A few weeks ago, I tried the eggplant version.

Last week, they had a kale/mushroom version.

This one was stellar.

The eggplant one was alright, but this one blew the others out of the water.

If you're in the area, you should definitely check them out at the NYC Green Markets.

They're awesome.

I have had the opportunity to try a few new restaurants and one of them had this tasty concoction: greek yogurt atop preserved cherries and topped with walnuts.

All I can say is: dessert.

It was a great start to a summer day. I'll definitely be recreating this.

Mr. Right took me to a fancy dinner filled with lobster and rice and fish and veggies. It was glorious.

We finished the meal off with this tasty morsel: peanut butter semifreddo with chocolate mouse and flour-less chocolate cake stuffed in the middle.

Let me just say, I was STUFFED. Truly. But it didn't matter. I was getting the peanut butter dessert and no one was going to stop me.

I think I moaned all the way through this for two reasons: 1. peanut butter was a filling choice, and 2. it was amazing.

I went almost completely dairy free for June. I made the effort, but found that dairy sneaked in without me knowing it. Luckily, I found that I really feel fine with a little dairy. I say "a little" because too much of it turns me into a bloated, farty mess. Overshare? Don't care.

But a little yogurt in the morning makes me feel awesome and it's great for the summer!

I was watching a cooking channel show early one morning and the lady made these, so I copied her.

Oatmeal Yogurt Parfaits!

I cooked some steel cut oats and layered that with plain greek yogurt, fresh berries, and a touch of maple syrup.

One day, I actually mixed a little sugar free jam with the yogurt and that was really good too.

Get creative, these are so fun and cool for those hot summer days!

I also tested my dairy limits the other day by ordering a sundae (YES, a sundae!) from the Big Gay Ice Cream Shop.

I don't even remember the name of the sundae I got, but it had peanut butter around the cup, chocolate on the bottom, and vanilla soft serve with candied pepitas, more chocolate sauce, and whipped cream on top.

 It was bomb.

And it didn't send me into the fetal position, so I was happy.

Welp, that's all I have for you on this edition of Bad Girl Eats. Thanks for stopping by and you stay classy.
